Poppy-Mae Interiors was established in 2012, but my story doesn’t start there. From a young age, art was my favourite subject. I come from a long line of designer-makers, and my parents met at Art College. Crafts were always encouraged, both at home and at Grandma’s house. In fact, I still treasure my early paintings, my first sewing project and one (very) higgledy-piggledy knitted scarf. Although knitting remains one of my favourite pastimes, I’m glad to say my style has improved since then!

Following my time at university, fate took me to work for a talented soft furnishings maker near my hometown of Kendal. Here I honed my existing skills and learned the trade first hand. I was then lucky enough to gain work experience with a long-established, family-run business specialising in interior design and soft furnishings. In fact, this was the same family business my Mum had worked for 10 years earlier, whilst teaching me my own early craft skills. Everything was falling into place and, encouraged by my talent for the profession and the motivation I felt, I was determined to strike out on my own. Years later, I am proud to not only continue our family history of craftspeople, but also to help keep alive the British tradition of handmade furnishings.

poppy profileAs you will see in my webshop, my personal interior style is both Scandi and retro inspired, with classic undertones.
However, when it comes to bespoke schemes, it is your own personal style which is important. Whether your taste is shabby chic, period or ultra-modern, we will work closely together to guarantee your design scheme is suited to your unique tastes. I pride myself in my contentiousness and my attention to detail. As a self-confessed perfectionist I am continually honing my skills, merging traditional sewing techniques and the newest technologies.
So, if you’re planning an interior project of your own, why not get in touch? I would love to hear from you.
